Siher has contributed to the online editions of Il Fatto Quotidiano and Il Foglio and is a trainee researcher at the Middle East and North Africa Observatory of ISPI, the Italian Institute for International Political Studies, after training in Communication and Political Science at the University of Milan [1].
Identification and investigation
Siher, formally resident in the province of Brescia, is identified by police following the 24 October protests. In the morning, officers from the Brescia Digos (the police division for political and anti-terrorism investigations) search the home where his family still lives, finding informational material considered of investigative interest. The young man is then taken to police headquarters (Questura) in Milan for questioning. At the end of the interrogation, the public prosecutor's office opens an investigation against him for incitement to commit a crime [1].
Reactions
Commenting on the case to journalists in Naples, the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi states that it is «still too early to talk about it», since the person involved has only been subjected to a search, and that the findings of the investigation must be awaited. The minister adds that the episode «should give confidence in the ability of our system and law enforcement to get to the bottom of these phenomena even when they are so complicated and insidious», reaffirming his trust in the work of law enforcement [1].
