Preliminary Hearing for the Brandizzo Railway Massacre (September 2026)
At the court of Ivrea the preliminary hearing opens for the Brandizzo railway massacre of 30 August 2023, in which five Sigifer workers died. Twenty-one defendants and the companies Rfi, Sigifer and Clf have been committed to trial.

Cgil initiative «Work demands justice» on the third anniversary of the massacre (24 September 2026)
On 24 September 2026, on the eve of the preliminary hearing, Cgil Piemonte, Cgil Torino, Filt Cgil and Fillea Cgil organize in Brandizzo, in Piazza Carlo Tempia, under the patronage of the municipality, the initiative «Work demands justice» on the third anniversary of the massacre that killed five workers struck by a train. Speakers include the general secretary of Cgil Torino Federico Bellono, the mayor of Brandizzo Monica Durante, Lidia Orastella, mother of victim Giuseppe Aversa, and the general secretary of Cgil Piemonte Giorgio Airaudo, who states: «We have not forgotten and we will not adapt [...] we are afraid it could happen again and we will not remain silent».
Union initiative «Work demands justice» on the third anniversary (24 September 2026)
The secretary of Fillea Cgil Piemonte Massimo Cogliandro asks for free legal aid for victims' relatives in economic difficulty, while the secretary of Filt Cgil Piemonte Giuseppe Santomauro points out that, after the massacre, the commitments made by Rfi on the reorganization of railway maintenance have not been matched by the necessary hirings.
The Laganà family's controversy over the compensation paid to Kevin's mother
On 30 September 2026, at the opening of the preliminary hearing, it emerges that the biological mother of one of the victims, Kevin Laganà, is among the roughly fifteen victims' relatives already compensated by Rfi before the trial began, with amounts covered by confidentiality agreements. The father Massimo and the brother Antonino Laganà, who did not join the civil action alongside the woman, dispute the compensation: «It's shameful because this woman did not raise us,» Antonino states, recalling that the mother had abandoned Kevin when he was two years old [1].
