Artist, creator of the Third Paradise symbol, which represents the search for a new balance between nature and artifice.

Michelangelo Pistoletto is an artist linked to Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto, creator of the Third Paradise symbol, which represents the search for a new harmony between nature and artifice.¹ In September 2026 the symbol was depicted on an orthopaedic prosthesis made by the Officina Ortopedica Maria Adelaide, presented at Turin's Omi Foundation in a project combining art, technology and solidarity.²

On 16 September 2026 Michelangelo Pistoletto's Third Paradise was depicted on the prosthesis of a nine-year-old Palestinian boy, as part of a project presented by the Officina Ortopedica Maria Adelaide together with Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto and the Omi Foundation. «The prosthesis arises as a stroke of genius, through an act of creation», Pistoletto said during the presentation.

The Third Paradise on a prosthesis for a child from Gaza (September 2026)

During the night between 19 and 20 May 2025 an Israeli missile struck a home in Gaza where fifteen members of the same family were staying; only the father and two sons, a boy and his younger brother, survived, and the elder son had his right leg amputated. Evacuated to Italy as part of the «Food for Gaza» humanitarian mission, coordinated by the Piedmont Region with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the boy arrived in Turin in 2025 and received a new prosthesis from the Officina Ortopedica Maria Adelaide, decorated with Michelangelo Pistoletto's Third Paradise symbol. The project, presented at the Omi Foundation by Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto and the Officina Maria Adelaide, was described by the artist as a gesture in which «nature and artifice must meet in the central circle and find a reason for balance», while the Officina's managing director, Roberto Ariagno, called it a concrete response to the consequences of war on civilians.
