The meeting between the Piedmont Region's councillor for Trade, Agriculture and Food, Tourism, Sport and Post-Olympic Affairs, Hunting and Fishing, and Parks, Paolo Bongioanni, and the consul general of the People's Republic of China in Milan, Chenggang Zang, took place at the Chinese Consulate in Milan, with the aim of presenting Piedmont's production chain, and in particular its agri-food sector, ahead of two trade fairs planned in China in 2027 [1][2].
The meeting
The bilateral meeting lasted over an hour. Bongioanni described to the consul general the history of Piedmont's production chain, focusing on the agri-food sector, dwelling on wine production and rice farming. On the latter point, the councillor gave Zang a gift representing Piedmont, which he described as Europe's leading rice-producing region [1][2].
Upcoming events in China
According to Bongioanni, the meeting made it possible to start discussions on two promotional events for Piedmont's agri-food production in China in 2027: the China International Consumer Products Expo, scheduled from 13 to 18 April 2027 at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center in Haikou, and the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, planned for November 2027 [1][2].
Bongioanni said he found interest and willingness to cooperate on the part of the consul general and his staff, with a view to making Piedmont an internationally minded region and opening up new market opportunities [1][2].
