March against rearmament on 30 October 2026

The march against rearmament of 30 October 2026 was a demonstration held in Turin on the evening of Friday 30 October 2026, organised by the occupiers of the Einaudi Campus and by the Torino per Gaza collective, in which several thousand people took part. The march degenerated on via Roma, in the city centre, where police forces carried out charges and used tear gas after a group of demonstrators had thrown bottles at officers [1] [2].
The route
The demonstration had set off from piazza Castello with the slogan "Meloni, we are coming" and a banner against war and rearmament. Because of roadblocks set up by police forces, the march passed through the Giardini Reali (Royal Gardens) and corso San Maurizio, blocking traffic, until it reached piazza Vittorio Veneto [2].
In piazza Vittorio Veneto some demonstrators got around the security cordon, reaching via Po and throwing bottles at a Carabinieri van [2].
The clashes on via Roma
The demonstrators, some with their faces covered or wearing helmets, reached via Roma via side streets, where they clashed with riot police units. After objects were thrown at officers, police responded with charges and tear gas, pushing the demonstrators back towards piazza Castello [1] [2].
The march then moved back to via Po, where some of the demonstrators stopped with their hands raised in front of the police cordon. A speaker declared over a megaphone: "We have taken back the centre, via Roma, which they had denied us," inviting participants to gather in the middle of the street [1].
Before the clashes there had also been peaceful moments, including a demonstrator who offered flowers to officers [2].
Context of the day
The evening protest came at the end of a day of mobilisation linked to a general strike. Unrest had already occurred that morning in piazza Castello, with two people detained and two injured in clashes with police [2].
