Leone 1857

Leone 1857 is a Piedmontese confectionery company, headquartered in Collegno, active for nearly 170 years in the production of chocolate, sweets and pastilles; its chairwoman is Michela Petronio, of the Barilla family [1][2][3].

The Fabbrica della Felicità

On 22 September 2026, Leone 1857 opened the Fabbrica della Felicità next to its plant at via Italia 48 in Collegno, a new 7,000-square-metre space open to the public that combines an experiential museum, industrial production and activities for visitors [1][2][3]. The building was designed by the Milan-based architecture firm Piuarch [1][2][3]. The opening ceremony was attended, alongside Michela Petronio and Luca Barilla with his children Sara and Pietro, by regional councillor Andrea Tronzano, Turin's deputy mayor Michela Favaro and Collegno's mayor Matteo Cavallone; the event was hosted by Cristina Chiabotto [1][2][3].

The museum route

The route opens with a large atrium dominated by a historic yellow Leone tin in monumental form, which also houses the café and the flagship store, set inside a large greenhouse and accessible without a ticket [1][2][3]. The museum unfolds over two floors in a ring-shaped layout that alternates immersive installations with views over the pastille and chocolate production lines, where period machinery coexists with contemporary technology; the route ends with a tasting of the products [1][2][3]. The Fabbrica della Felicità also offers guided and self-guided tours, themed workshops, premium routes with access to the production areas, and activities for schools, groups and tour operators, as well as spaces for corporate events [1][2][3].

Sustainability and opening hours

The building was designed to achieve LEED Gold certification and includes photovoltaic systems and rainwater recovery systems [3]. The Fabbrica della Felicità is open from Tuesday to Sunday, with the museum route open from 10am to 6pm and the café and shop areas open until 7pm; tickets can be purchased online or at the box office [3].
