Investigation into the murder of Fabio Colapietro: forensic analysis (September 2026)

In the investigation into the murder of Fabio Colapietro, the Turin prosecutor's office orders forensic analysis of the mobile phones seized from the three suspects and the victim; the autopsy on the body is scheduled for Friday.

According to investigators' reconstruction, Fabio Colapietro, 39, originally from Chivasso and resident in Settimo Torinese, was allegedly killed on the night of 21 September 2026 in the via Gulli apartment, in Borgo Vittoria, where a drug-fuelled party had been going on for days.

The main suspect, Cristian Matheus De Oliveira Morando, 26, has confessed to the murder to investigators, while the apartment's owner, teacher Nicole Formichetti, 47, and Keith Butig, 22, are under investigation for aiding and abetting and concealment of a body.

The victim's body was found dismembered, hidden in bags and buckets partly covered with quick-setting cement.

On 27 September 2026 the Turin preliminary investigations judge did not validate the arrest of the three suspects, finding no flight risk, but nonetheless ordered pre-trial detention over the risk of reoffending.

The investigating judge orders pre-trial detention for the three people held for the murder, after the arrest's validation had been denied.
