The mountains and villages of the Val di Susa become the set of «Verzegnis», a new folk-horror short film directed by Turin filmmaker Daniele Nicolosi, co-written with Giampaolo Galli and produced by Aleo Film and Metropolis Film of Orbassano. Filming, which began on 17 October 2026, takes place in Meana di Susa, Colle delle Finestre, Val Clarea, Giaglione and Novalesa.

The cast is led by David di Donatello winner Giorgio Colangeli, together with lead actress Giuditta Niccoli and Moncalieri-born actress Alice Piano. Set in the nineteenth century, the film tells the story of Valeria, who lives isolated in the mountains with her grandfather Angelo when a mysterious presence begins to appear in the woods. The story draws on the “possessed women of Verzegnis,” an episode that shook Carnia between 1878 and 1879. Once filming in Piedmont is complete, production continues in Friuli Venezia Giulia; the short film will serve as the prequel to a feature film currently in development.
