Giaglione
Giaglione is a municipality in the Susa Valley, in the province of Turin. The town hall is located in Frazione San Giuseppe (hamlet) [1]. The village has two places dedicated to the memory of the fallen: a Monument to the Fallen in front of the Town Hall and a second monument, with an associated Parco della Rimembranza, in another part of the municipal territory [1].
The 4 November commemoration
In Giaglione, the Armed Forces Day, which coincides with the anniversary of the Unity of Italy on 4 November, is a tradition deeply felt by the local community [1]. The 2026 celebrations were held on Sunday 1 November, with the programme starting in front of the Town Hall: citizens and authorities gathered there for the flag-raising, accompanied by the notes of the Silenzio and the laying of a floral wreath at the Monument to the Fallen [1].
The ceremony continued with Holy Mass and the subsequent move to the Parco della Rimembranza, where a solemn blessing, a further laying of laurel wreaths and official speeches by the authorities took place, addressed in particular to passing on historical memory to new generations [1]. On similar occasions, the 4 November commemoration in Giaglione has seen the participation of the local Banda Musicale (town band) together with other groups from the area [1].
