Fondazione Torino Musei

The Fondazione Torino Musei is the body that governs some of Turin's main civic museums, including the Museum of Oriental Art (Mao). Its policy decisions, including the appointment of museum directors, are made by its board of directors, chaired as of November 2026 by Massimo Broccio.

Governance

The Fondazione's board of directors makes its decisions based on the outcomes of selection procedures and the assessments of external panels made up of international museum-sector professionals. The board's decisions are announced through official statements from the Fondazione [1][2].

Davide Quadrio's confirmation as director of the Mao (2026)

On 4 November 2026, the Fondazione Torino Musei's board of directors confirmed Davide Quadrio as director of the Mao, at the end of an international selection process in which thirty candidates had taken part [1][2].

The external evaluation panel tasked with reviewing the applications comprised Annette Bhagwati, director of the Museum Rietberg in Zurich; Yannick Lintz, president of the Musée national des arts asiatiques – Guimet in Paris; and Carlo Lippolis, professor of archaeology and art history of ancient Western Asia and the ancient eastern Mediterranean at the University of Turin and scientific director of Crast [1][2].

The board of directors based the confirmation on the work Quadrio had done leading the museum and on the growth the Mao has seen in recent years, also citing exhibitions that drew considerable public success [1]. Fondazione Torino Musei president Massimo Broccio stated: "Based on the work done at the helm of the Mao and the path of growth the museum has taken in these past years, the board decided to give continuity to his mandate, renewing its trust in the director and in his ability to guide the museum through a phase of consolidation and further development."
