Confirmation of Davide Quadrio as director of the Mao (2026)

On 4 November 2026 the board of the Fondazione Torino Musei confirms Davide Quadrio as director of the Museum of Oriental Art (Museo d'Arte Orientale, Mao) in Turin, based on via San Domenico. The decision concludes an international selection process in which thirty candidates took part.[1][2]

The selection process

The process was launched by the Fondazione Torino Musei and concluded with the work of an external evaluation panel made up of professionals from the international museum sector: Annette Bhagwati, director of the Museum Rietberg in Zurich; Yannick Lintz, president of the Musée national des arts asiatiques – Guimet in Paris; Carlo Lippolis, professor of archaeology and art history of ancient western Asia and the ancient eastern Mediterranean at the University of Turin and scientific director of the Crast.[1][2]

The board's decision

The board resolved to confirm Davide Quadrio on the basis of the outcome of the selection process and the panel's assessments, recognising the work carried out at the helm of the museum.[1][2] The president of the Fondazione Torino Musei, Massimo Broccio, stated: «Based on the work done at the helm of the Mao and the growth the museum has undertaken in recent years, the board decided to give continuity to his mandate, renewing its confidence in the director and in his ability to guide the museum through a phase of consolidation and further development».[1][2]
