Davide Quadrio

Davide Quadrio directs the Museum of Oriental Art (Mao) in Turin, an institution of the Fondazione Torino Musei. In November 2026 he was confirmed at the head of the museum at the end of an international selection process [1][2].

Confirmation as director of the Mao

On 4 November 2026 the board of the Fondazione Torino Musei confirmed Davide Quadrio as director of the Mao. The decision concluded a selection process in which thirty candidates took part [1][2].

The external evaluation committee that examined the applications was made up of Annette Bhagwati, director of the Museum Rietberg in Zurich, Yannick Lintz, president of the Musée national des arts asiatiques – Guimet in Paris, and Carlo Lippolis, professor of Archaeology and History of Art of Ancient Western Asia and the Ancient Eastern Mediterranean at the University of Turin and scientific director of Crast [1][2].

The board confirmed Quadrio on the basis of the outcome of the selection process and the committee's assessments, acknowledging the work done at the helm of the museum. The president of the Fondazione Torino Musei, Massimo Broccio, stated that the board, on the basis of the work carried out at the head of the Mao and the growth the museum has undergone in recent years, decided to give continuity to his mandate, renewing its confidence in the director and in his ability to guide the museum through a phase of consolidation and further development [1][2].

Activity at the museum

Among the initiatives carried out during Quadrio's tenure are exhibitions that drew considerable public success, including the exhibition dedicated to the artist Song Dong, presented at the Mao in October 2026 [1].
