Fall from the Via Mazzini Bridge in Susa on 4 October 2026
On the evening of Sunday 4 October 2026, a girl fell into the waters of the Dora Riparia river in Susa, near the bridge connecting Via Mazzini to Piazza IV Novembre. The incident prompted a large deployment of emergency responders to the scene.[1][2]
The rescue operation
Firefighters from the Susa detachment responded to the scene of the fall, supported by the Speleo-Alpino-Fluviale (SAF) unit of the Turin provincial command, carabinieri from the Susa company, and 118 emergency medical personnel with ambulances and the helicopter rescue service.[1][2]
Rescuers cordoned off the area and searched the watercourse, managing to locate the girl in the river and bring her back to the bank. After initial stabilization on site, the young woman was loaded onto the rescue helicopter and urgently transferred to the CTO hospital in Turin.[1][2]
The investigation
The causes and exact dynamics of the fall are being examined by carabinieri from the Susa company, who carried out an inspection of the bridge and questioned any witnesses in order to determine whether it was an accident or a deliberate act.[2]
