In September 2026 the Dda of Turin led, for the Italian side, operation "Eredità" ("Legacy"): an investigation into the international trafficking of cocaine from South America to Europe, carried out together with the Ros carabinieri and the Brazilian federal police.1
On 17 September 2026 the operation led to the execution in Brazil of eight pre-trial detention orders and five search-and-seizure warrants; investigators traced to the network under investigation at least eleven cocaine seizures carried out between 2019 and 2020, for a total quantity of more than 4.6 tonnes.12
Operation "Eredità" against Italy-Brazil drug trafficking (2026)
On 17 September 2026 the anti-mafia district directorate of Turin, under the coordination of the national anti-mafia and anti-terrorism directorate, led, for the Italian side, operation "Eredità" against a transnational drug-trafficking network between South America and Europe, carried out together with the Ros carabinieri of Turin and the Brazilian federal police.1
The investigation led to the execution in Brazil of eight pre-trial detention orders and five search-and-seizure warrants against relatives and people linked to Patrick and Nicola Assisi, a father and son from the Canavese identified by investigators as 'ndrangheta bosses and already arrested in 2019: among those under investigation is Paula Simões, wife of Patrick Assisi.12
According to investigators' reconstruction, after the 2019 arrests the network allegedly continued to bring cocaine from South America to Europe through the Brazilian port of Paranaguá: the group has been linked to at least eleven seizures between 2019 and 2020, for a total of more than 4.6 tonnes of cocaine.1
