The commendation ceremony took place in the afternoon of Monday, 14 September 2026, in a hall of the town hall of San Maurizio Canavese, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Turin. The initiative recognized the actions of Municipal Police officers from San Maurizio and Carabinieri of the Ciriè garrison, who on the previous 27 April had prevented an attempted burglary in a home, identifying those responsible and chasing them through the town's streets until uncovering their accomplices as well; all those involved were arrested.[1]

The ceremony

Lieutenant Aurora Palmieri and the commander of the Venaria company, Captain Silverio Gesuè, attended the meeting. Councillor for security Andrea Persichella spoke, thanking the law enforcement agencies for their cooperation with the municipal administration and stressing the value of the synergy between the municipality, the Carabinieri and the Municipal Police.[1] Thanks were also extended to the commander of the San Maurizio Municipal Police, Eliana Viale, for her commitment.[1]

Mayor Michelangelo Picat Re highlighted the presence of municipal council representatives at the ceremony, describing it as a way of giving value to those who work for the community's safety and to the risks that such commitment entails.[1] The Venaria company commander, Silverio Gesuè, observed that the recognition shows how cooperation between institutions makes it possible to offer citizens a quality service, also stressing the importance of the human factor in the operation's positive outcome.[1]
