Coldiretti Cuneo
Coldiretti Cuneo is the provincial branch of Italy's National Confederation of Direct Farmers (Confederazione nazionale coltivatori diretti, Coldiretti) for the Province of Cuneo, also known as "la Granda". The organisation represents the interests of local farming entrepreneurs and is led by president Enrico Nada and director Francesco Goffredo [1][2].
Mobilisation in Brussels over the 2028-2034 CAP
On 4 November 2026 a delegation of young farming entrepreneurs under 35 from the Province of Cuneo, together with peers from across Piedmont, took part in a protest in Brussels organised by EFFAT (the European Federation of Trade Unions in the Food, Agriculture and Tourism sectors) against the attempt to remove social conditionality from the future Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2028-2034 [1][2].
The demonstration was also joined by Romano Magrini, Coldiretti's national head of Labour, and Arianna Giuliodori, director of Coldiretti Brussels. The delegation asked that EU funds for agriculture not be paid to those who exploit farm workers, in a context where the European Union has decided to decouple the disbursement of CAP funds from compliance with labour, health and safety rules — a choice also backed by Copa (the EU farmers' and agri-cooperatives' umbrella organisation), chaired by Massimiliano Giansanti [1][2].
Coldiretti Cuneo's president, Enrico Nada, said European farmers' funds cannot end up with those who exploit workers, calling the measure a possible gift to those practising caporalato (illegal labour brokering) and undeclared work. Director Francesco Goffredo recalled Coldiretti's historic support for the 2016 law against caporalato, which marks its tenth anniversary in 2026, highlighting the contribution of the organisation's Agromafie Observatory in protecting the dignity of farm labour [1][2].
