Closure of the Tangenziale di Fossano on 7 November 2026
Date of the event:
On 7 November 2026 the Tangenziale di Fossano, in the province of Cuneo, remained closed to traffic in both directions from 7am to 5pm, in the stretch between the roundabout at Boschetti and the Fossano Nord/Marene junction, at the La Reale viaduct. The closure affected state road 231 "di Santa Vittoria" and was ordered by Anas to allow work setting up the site for restoring the surfaces of the Galleria Belmonte tunnel, located at kilometre 59.550 of the ring road [1][2].
Reasons and organisation of the worksite
The work is part of the programme for restoring the surfaces of the Galleria Belmonte tunnel launched by Anas. The full closure on 7 November was necessary to set up a carriageway swap of about 700 metres at the tunnel [1][2]. During the closure, from 7am to 5pm, traffic was diverted onto local roads [1][2].
Reopening and subsequent phases
At 5pm on Saturday 7 November the ring road reopened to traffic in both directions, but with a carriageway swap: the stretch towards Cuneo remained closed, while traffic was directed onto the single carriageway towards Asti, set up for two-way traffic [1][2]. This configuration, planned to allow work on the Galleria Belmonte tunnel, is expected to end by the end of January 2027, when the same restoration work is due to start on the opposite carriageway [1][2].
