Chivasso-Santhià railway upgrade works (2026)
Date of the event:
On the weekend of 17 and 18 October 2026, and on Saturday 14 November 2026, rail services are suspended between Chivasso station, in the Province of Turin, and Santhià station, in the Province of Vercelli, to allow technological and infrastructure upgrade works on the line [1][2].
The works and the lines affected
The suspension covers the section between Chivasso and Santhià and was ordered by Trenitalia's regional division, part of the FS Group, to ensure service continuity while the works are carried out [1]. The lines affected are the Turin-Milan and Ivrea-Novara lines, for which replacement buses are set up solely for the Chivasso-Santhià stretch [1][2]. On the Chivasso-Alessandria line, trains are cancelled between Chivasso and Crescentino, a stretch also covered by replacement buses [1][2].
Changes to the service
On 17 and 18 October the replacement buses do not stop at Saluggia or Sant'Antonino di Saluggia, because of road changes ordered by the Municipality of Saluggia [1][2]. Bicycles are not allowed on the replacement buses, and large animals are excluded, with the exception of assistance dogs [1]. Passengers are advised to take the changes into account when planning their journeys [2].
