Cavallermaggiore

Cavallermaggiore is a municipality in the Province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. Within its territory stands the production plant of Biraghi S.p.A., a dairy company of national standing.

The Biraghi plant

At the Cavallermaggiore plant, active since 1934, milk supplied by farms in the provinces of Cuneo, Turin and Asti is processed. Production includes, among other products, Gran Biraghi and Gorgonzola DOP, which the company presents as the expression of a short supply chain rooted in Piedmontese territory [1][2].

The visit of Prince Albert II of Monaco

On 10 October 2026 Prince Albert II of Monaco visited the Biraghi plant in Cavallermaggiore, welcomed by the company's owners, Anna and Bruno Biraghi. The stop concluded the Sovereign's tour, at the helm of the Principality since 2005, of the Piedmontese municipalities belonging to the Association of the Historic Grimaldi Sites of Monaco, whose official visits had ended late in the evening of the previous day [1][2].

During the visit, the Prince met the company's staff and toured the plant's production areas. The occasion was also recalled in connection with the economic ties between Monaco and Italy, mentioned by President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella during his state visit to the Principality on 2 and 3 October 2026 [1][2].
