Attempted robbery at the Bennet supermarket in Pavone Canavese

On 19 October 2026, around lunchtime, at the Bennet supermarket on via Circonvallazione in Pavone Canavese, a municipality in the Canavese area in the Province of Turin, a 21-year-old man already known to law enforcement and a 17-year-old girl stole goods inside the store [1][2].

What happened

The two were spotted by the shopping centre's anti-shoplifting staff member, who tried to stop them. Once discovered, they tried to flee: the 21-year-old threatened the supermarket's security staff in order to get away with the stolen goods [1][2]. The staff member called the single emergency number 112, bringing in the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile unit of the Ivrea company [1][2].

The Carabinieri's intervention

Carabinieri officers managed to stop the 21-year-old, returning the stolen goods to the supermarket [1][2]. The 17-year-old initially managed to get away [1][2].

The 21-year-old was arrested in the act for attempted aggravated robbery committed jointly and, on the orders of the Ivrea public prosecutor's office coordinating the investigation, was placed under house arrest pending validation of the arrest [1][2]. The 17-year-old was reported at large for the same offence to the Juvenile Public Prosecutor's Office of Turin [1][2].
