Asti-Cuneo S.p.A. is the concessionaire of the A33 motorway, which links Asti to Cuneo via Alba and the Roero. It belongs to the ASTM group and is subject to the direction and coordination of S.A.L.T.; it is registered in Rome and has a share capital of 200 million euros.1 The concession was signed on 5 April 1991 with the aim of completing the motorway by 1996; ANAS began the first works in 2000, the first sections opened to traffic between 2005 and 2008, and then the project stalled for about eight years amid disputes and financial difficulties.2

The impasse was broken by cross-financing with SATAP, the concessionaire for the Turin-Milan motorway, which made it possible to build the final sections; the total cost rose to 1.457 billion euros against the 340 million estimated in 1991.2 The last section, between Cherasco and west Alba, was opened with four lanes on 20 April 2026: the roughly 90-kilometre route now links the A21 Turin-Piacenza and the A6 Turin-Savona motorways, with Itinera, a company of the ASTM group, as general contractor.3 For southern Piedmont the motorway fills a gap that had separated the Ligurian ports from the industrial area of the Langhe and the Cuneo area.2

The site asticuneo.it informs drivers on the A33: real-time traffic conditions, webcams and maps, roadworks and planned closures, tolls and online payment, the barrier-free "free flow" toll collection system on the Bra-Marene-Cherasco section, and winter conditions.1 In the Torino Top 100 ranking for September 2026, the site ranks among the 50,000 most-visited sites in Italy according to Google's Chrome UX Report.
