Associazione Quore APS

Associazione Quore APS is a social promotion association active in Turin, engaged in combating discrimination and supporting people in situations of socio-residential vulnerability, with particular attention to young people and the LGBTQIA+ community. The association is known for its work in the field of anti-discrimination centres for LGBT people, a commitment also recognised at national level by the National Office Against Racial Discrimination of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers [1]. The association's founders are Alessandro Battaglia and Silvia Magino [1].

Activities and collaborations

The association collaborates with the City of Turin on reception and social inclusion projects aimed at people facing housing difficulties. The director of the National Office Against Racial Discrimination, Mattia Peradotto, stated that he has long supported Quore's work, recalling the office's five-year commitment to establishing and strengthening anti-discrimination centres for LGBT people throughout Italy [1].

The TOHOUSING+ project

The collaboration between the City of Turin and Associazione Quore APS gave rise to TOHOUSING+, a temporary housing project aimed at people in situations of socio-residential vulnerability, with particular focus on young people and the LGBTQIA+ community [1][2]. The facility is located at corso Farini 20, in the building of the former Dora Vanchiglia police station, renovated thanks to funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan under Mission 5 "Inclusion and cohesion", for a total value of 710,000 euros covering both physical and non-physical interventions [1][2]. The project follows the Housing First model and offers 12 temporary accommodation places, with personalised paths towards independence supported by a multidisciplinary team [2].

TOHOUSING+ was inaugurated in the presence of the Mayor of Turin Stefano Lo Russo, the director of the National Office Against Racial Discrimination of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Mattia Peradotto, the City of Turin's Councillor for Social Policies, Rights and Equal Opportunities Jacopo Rosatelli, the director of the City of Turin's Department of Social, Health and Housing Services Monica Lo Cascio, the founders of Associazione Quore APS Alessandro Battaglia and Silvia Magino, and the head of Obiettivo Persone at Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo Marzia Sica [1]. The facility is also conceived as a centre open to the local community, offering training activities, workshops, cultural initiatives, social gatherings and a social concierge service, with the aim of strengthening ties with the neighbourhood and supporting paths towards independence and inclusion [2].
