Activation of the speed cameras on the Circonvallazione esterna in Orbassano
Date of the event:

On 9 November 2026, at midnight, the first two fixed speed cameras installed in the municipality come into operation on the Circonvallazione esterna in Orbassano, along the Provinciale 6. This is the first electronic speed-detection system active in Orbassano, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Turin [1][2].
Location and limits
The two devices are positioned at different points along the Circonvallazione esterna, facing opposite directions. The first is located at kilometre 15+040, on the carriageway heading towards Beinasco; the second is installed on the stretch between kilometre 15+600 and 15+950, heading towards Piossasco. The speed limit is set at 90 km/h along the whole stretch [1][2].
Purpose of the measure
Before activation, technical tests and trial runs of the devices were completed; from that point on they automatically detect speed-limit violations without the need for a patrol to be present [1]. Installation was entrusted to the company Traffic Tecnology spa and is part of a road-safety programme agreed between the Municipality of Orbassano and the Metropolitan City of Turin [1][2].
The Circonvallazione esterna is described as one of the busiest roads in the area and the scene of several accidents over the years. The Municipality explains that the measure aims to curb excessive speed and improve road safety, including through structural measures such as roundabouts and cycle-pedestrian paths [1][2].
