AEM Torino

Turin's municipal energy utility merged into Iren in 2006, but its old domain remains registered and paid for even today.

Azienda Energetica Metropolitana Torino (AEM) was the city's municipal energy utility, merged into Iren in 2006.

The domain aem.torino.it, registered to the company, was recorded on 8 August 2000 and is shown as paid for until 9 June 2027, more than twenty years after the merger that ended the company.1 The site no longer responds. In Common Crawl's host graph it occupies position 24,162,324.2

Management of the city's electricity distribution network was the responsibility of a dedicated company, AEM Torino Distribuzione S.p.A., based at via Bertola 48 in Turin: its site aemdistribuzione.torino.it, recorded on 2 June 2008, offered a historical volume produced for the company's centenary.1 In January 2013 the site stated that the company managed electricity distribution not only in Turin but also in Parma, through its subsidiaries Iren Emilia and Enia Parma, with a share capital of 126,127,156 euros.2 In April 2016 the domain redirected to the site of Ireti, which had absorbed its maintenance, remote-control and emergency-response activities on the electricity distribution network.3

The company AEM Torino Distribuzione S.p.A., responsible for the city's electricity distribution network, was by June 2008 part of Gruppo Iride, born from the merger of AEM Torino and AMGA Genova.1 In January 2013 the company, based at via Bertola 48 in Turin, also managed the distribution network in Parma and was under the direction and coordination of Iren Energia S.p.A.2 By April 2016 its activities had merged into Ireti, the Iren group company devoted to the distribution of electricity, gas and water.3
