€7.6 million restoration plan for the Basilica di Superga (2026)
In September 2026 a €7.6 million restoration plan for the Basilica di Superga, funded by the Ministry of Culture and by the Consulta per la Valorizzazione dei Beni Artistici e Culturali di Torino, enters a more defined phase. The works are expected to be completed by 2030. The plan is part of a memorandum of understanding signed in the summer of 2024 between the Agenzia del Demanio, which owns the complex, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Piedmont Region, the City of Turin and the Metropolitan City of Turin; among the first works carried out is the opening, on 20 June 2026, of the first block of the complex's guest quarters, run by the Sermig since 2021. Starting 17 May 2026, a new experimental Gtt service, the «Superga Express», connects Piazza Vittorio Veneto to the square in front of the Basilica on public holidays, with departures every 40 minutes; the line will remain on trial for six months. [3]
