Thefts at the Trofarello sports hall (October 2026)
On 8 October 2026 a theft was committed in the changing rooms of the Pertini sports hall in piazzale Berlinguer, in Trofarello, affecting the players of the Tsec volleyball team, who had mobile phones and other personal items stolen from their bags. Several parents filed a police report and the case is being investigated by the carabinieri of the Moncalieri company.[1][2]
A series of thefts
The theft of 8 October is not an isolated episode: the facility, opened in September 2025, has repeatedly been targeted by thieves. Previously, the bar's cash float and drink stock had been stolen overnight, along with a professional floor-washing machine worth about 2,000 euros and some company documents; another theft took place in broad daylight during basketball training.[1][2]
The access-control problem
According to the company that manages the facility, the problem lies in controlling access: the building has two entrances, one for athletes near the changing rooms and one for the public near the bar and stands, both left open during training to let people through; the doors to the playing field also have faulty locks. Padlocks fitted to doors and gates have regularly been forced open. The company has put up signs asking people not to leave items unattended, has asked parents to help keep an eye on the entrances during training and matches, and has bought cameras for the outside perimeter, but has not yet installed them over concerns about users' privacy.[1][2]
