Snowfall of 5 November 2026 in Val di Viù

On 5 November 2026 snow reaches the mountains around Turin down to an altitude of 1,200 metres. The snowfall particularly affects upper Val di Viù, the southernmost of the Lanzo valleys, in the Metropolitan City of Turin.[1]

The snowfall

The weather disturbance affecting Piedmont produces the heaviest accumulations over the Ligurian, Maritime, Cottian and Graian Alps, with the mountains of the Cuneo area among the worst affected. During the night the snow line locally drops to around 1,000 metres, while at higher altitude fresh snow accumulations exceed 40 centimetres.[1]

The situation is documented in a video posted on social media by meteorologist Andrea Vuolo, filmed by a local resident on the spot.[1]
