Sconfini Giovani 2026

Sconfini Giovani is a theatre festival dedicated to under-35 companies from the local area, which opened on Saturday 26 September 2026 at 8:45 pm at Teatro San Barnaba, at strada Castello di Mirafiori 42, in Mirafiori Sud. The festival is organized by the OltrePalco association and sponsored by Turin's Circoscrizione 2.[1][2]

The festival

Now in its fourth year of theatrical programming by OltrePalco, the initiative was created to offer young people taking their first steps in the performing arts a professional space in which to engage with audiences and cultural professionals. Artistic director Davide Di Gregorio explained that the festival aims to promote theatre as a tool for collective reflection, cultural participation and social transformation, favouring productions that address civic and social themes.[1]

The four competing productions were selected through an open call launched by OltrePalco in April 2026: the Alfieriche Tragedia company, a self-managed theatre workshop at the Vittorio Alfieri classical high school in Turin, founded nine years ago and active at the Notte dei Teatri Classici and the Festival del Teatro Classico di Siracusa; Briganti Next, a company of young people aged 14 to 18 led by director and trainer Antonio Lauriola, an offshoot of Briganti di Sherwood founded in 2010; and the Maison du Théâtre school, founded in 2018 by Luciano Caratto and now based at the Circolo della Magia within Teatro Juvarra.[2]

Performance schedule

The programme includes four competing evenings: on 3 October 2026 the Maison du Théâtre school presents Antigone by Jean Anouilh, directed by Manuela Marascio and set in Nazi-occupied Paris in 1941; on 10 October the Alfieri high school stages Donne in Parlamento; on 14 November the same company presents Le baccanti; and on 28 November Briganti Next closes the festival with Il dilemma dell'ornitorinco.[1][2]

The performances are judged by a panel of experts. The closing awards evening is scheduled for Saturday 12 December 2026: the winning company will be given the opportunity to stage a new production as part of OltrePalco's season, with all proceeds going entirely to the company itself.[1][2]
