Roundabout in Venaus between the SP 210 and via Antica Reale

In Venaus, a municipality of Val Cenischia in the Metropolitan City of Turin, a new roundabout has been completed at the junction of Provincial Road 210 and via Antica Reale, the road leading to the historic centre of the village. The work, costing a total of 250,000 euros, was carried out under an agreement between the Municipality of Venaus and the Metropolitan City of Turin.^[1][2]

Financing

The project benefited from a vertical subsidiarity call for proposals published by the Metropolitan City of Turin in 2020, aimed at supporting work to improve and secure the road network under the wider authority's responsibility. The Metropolitan City contributed 170,888.13 euros, while the Municipality of Venaus covered the remaining 79,111.87 euros.^[1][2]

Features of the work

The roundabout is a compact type with an outer diameter of 29 metres, including the asphalted shoulder. The circulatory carriageway is 8 metres wide and includes the paved lane and the kerbing of the flower beds. At the centre is a non-mountable island 13 metres in diameter, bordered by stone kerbs 15 centimetres high.^[1][2]

Site visit

In the days before the news was published, the metropolitan deputy mayor responsible for public works, Jacopo Suppo, visited Venaus to check the quality of the work and meet mayor Antonino Basile, who had taken office only a few months earlier. The meeting was also attended by technicians from the Metropolitan City's Road Network Directorate 2 and from the municipal administration. Suppo pointed to the Venaus project as one of the examples of cooperation between the Metropolitan City and its 312 municipalities, which he described as guided by practical solutions that are technically and financially viable for tackling problems in the road network under the authority's responsibility.^[1][2]
