Robbery of a woman holding her son in via Chiesa della Salute
Date of the event:
On 22 August 2026, outside an ice-cream shop on via Chiesa della Salute in Turin, a man snatched a gold necklace from a woman who was with her four-month-old son. While fleeing, the attacker violently hit the pram the baby was lying in, nearly knocking it to the ground.[1][2]
How it happened
According to investigators’ reconstruction, the man approached the woman on foot and snatched the necklace she was wearing, before riding off on a scooter driven by an accomplice.[1][2]
Investigation and arrest
The investigation was carried out by Turin’s flying squad (squadra mobile) through analysis of footage from surveillance cameras in the area and comparison with police photographs. The checks allowed investigators to identify the suspected perpetrator of the robbery, a 29-year-old man of Moroccan origin already known to police for similar previous offences.[1][2]
On 26 October 2026 the 29-year-old was served with a pre-trial detention order, carried out by Turin police, on a charge of aggravated robbery.[1][2]
