Residents report potholes on Via Ponchielli in Nichelino

Some residents of Via Ponchielli, in Nichelino, reported the poor condition of the road to Mayor Giampiero Tolardo, meeting him in person during the Saturday market. The potholes and damaged road surface are concentrated in particular near house numbers 32 and 34, by a parking area [1][2].

Residents' reports

"A disgraceful situation," say some local residents, who also recount an episode in which an elderly person struggled because of the potholes [1]. One resident, identified as Alessandro M., also reports that the drainage grates are merely resting in place rather than fixed, creating a risk of falls for anyone walking or driving over them [1][2].

The local police's intervention and the back-and-forth over responsibility

In the days before the report to the mayor, a resident had called Nichelino's local police, who arrived within a few minutes. On site, a question of jurisdiction over the area reportedly emerged, since there is a private underground parking area on the level below the parking lot [1][2].

The situation was resolved after the intervention of city councillor Filippo D'Aveni, who manages the adjacent building, and who documented that management of the surface parking area falls under the City's responsibility. Only then was it possible to proceed with securing the area, using barriers and cones [1][2].

A temporary solution

For residents, the measures taken remain a temporary fix that does not solve the underlying problem. "Making it safe doesn't mean fixing it: structural, permanent work is needed," says Alessandro M., while residents are calling for a definitive intervention on this stretch of road [1][2].
