Raffaele Petrarulo
Raffaele Petrarulo is a former Turin city councillor. He lives in the Barriera di Milano district, where in October 2026 he was at the centre of a news story related to an attempted theft from his car, which he publicly denounced as an example of the area's security problems.[1]
The foiled theft on corso Novara
On 7 October 2026, at around 2:30 pm, a man got into Petrarulo's Alfa Romeo, parked on corso Novara in front of the Benedetto Croce school, intending to steal valuables from inside the car.[1] A Carabinieri patrol car from the via Guido Reni company, passing through the area, noticed the suspicious movements and intervened, stopping the man, who was arrested in the act.[1] Petrarulo, informed of what had happened, went to the scene and filed a formal complaint.[1]
Statements on the district's security
Commenting on the episode, Petrarulo called the situation of theft and petty crime in Barriera di Milano "out of control," claiming that car thefts, brawls and robberies occur daily in the district.[1] He also voiced appreciation for the work of law enforcement, particularly the Carabinieri, while criticising current laws as insufficient to fully protect citizens.[1]
