Protest against minister Bernini at the Egyptian Museum

The protest against university minister Anna Maria Bernini took place on 6 November 2026 in front of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, on via Accademia delle Scienze, in the city centre. The episode involved about thirty university students, largely linked to the “Cambiare rotta” collective and the groups occupying the Luigi Einaudi Campus, and ended with tension and some physical contact with police [1][2].

What happened

Minister Bernini was on an institutional visit to the Egyptian Museum when a group of university students tried to reach her to protest her presence. Police, deployed in riot gear in the nearby piazza Carignano, prevented the demonstrators from approaching the museum and moving around the area [1]. According to the students, some of them had earlier managed to enter the museum by paying for a ticket, but were said to have been stopped before they could ask for a direct confrontation with the minister [1].

When the students tried to reach the area by another street, they were stopped in particular at the junction of via Carlo Alberto and via Maria Vittoria, where there was pushing and some baton blows, without police carrying out actual charges [1].

The protest and the minister's departure

The demonstrators shouted slogans against the minister, including “Non ti vogliamo” (“We don't want you”), and tried to block the car in which Bernini was leaving the museum area [2]. Police moved the students away, also using batons; tension rose when it was decided to identify the demonstrators, with some of them pinned to the ground and further scuffles between students and officers [2].
