Piazza Vittorio Veneto (Pianezza)
Piazza Vittorio Veneto is the main square of the historic centre of Pianezza, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, not to be confused with the square of the same name in Turin. After a restyling lasting about a year and a half, the square was inaugurated in its new form on Sunday 20 September 2026 by mayor Antonio Castello, together with regional councillor Salvatore Castello and municipal officials.
The works
The works made it possible to reclaim the area of the former pharmacy and its inner courtyards, linked and integrated into the square through a new colonnaded arcade that creates a direct path to via Mazzini. The paving was redone, street furniture and public lighting renewed, and the war memorial moved, with the help of the Alpini of Pianezza. In front of the memorial a ground-level fountain was built, with water jets synchronised to an LED lighting system and designed with full water recirculation; when switched off, the space remains available for pedestrians and events.
The new urban axis
For the occasion the photographic exhibition "Immagini di una città che evolve" ("Images of a city evolving") was also set up, with historical images and images of the transformation. Mayor Castello stated that a "new urban axis in the historic centre" had been created: from the square it is in fact possible to reach the Centro Bettini and continue towards via Mazzini, as far as the Giardino Di Matteo and Villa Blanchetti, where work is under way on the future Civic Theatre and Cultural Centre.
