Pessinetto

Pessinetto is a comune in the metropolitan city of Turin, situated in the Valli di Lanzo, crossed by Provincial Road 1 of the Valli di Lanzo.

The rockfall-protection gallery

Along SP 1, in the territory of Pessinetto, a rockfall-protection gallery is under construction, intended to make safe a stretch of road where rocks have repeatedly fallen from the slope above.[2]

The first phase of the works was completed in 2025, with an investment of three and a half million euros by the metropolitan city of Turin. For the second phase, launched afterwards, a further investment of 1.5 million euros was allocated; according to deputy metropolitan mayor Jacopo Suppo, the works were expected to be completed by autumn.[2]

Works in October 2026

On 5 and 6 October, from 9am to 5pm, Provincial Road 1 of the Valli di Lanzo was regulated by alternating one-way traffic from km 36+500 to km 36+900, at the site of the works, to allow the placement of the roof beams extending the rockfall-protection gallery.[1][2] During the lifting and placement of each beam, temporary suspensions of traffic for all vehicles were planned, lasting up to 20 minutes, with passage still guaranteed for emergency vehicles and public transport.[1][2]
