Paraculissima
Paraculissima is an art event held in Settimo Torinese, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, promoted by the ColoriQuadri association under the artistic direction of Osvaldo Neirotti and Emanuela Guarino. The event works on the city's public space with pieces of urban art created in collaboration with the municipal administration.[1]
Editions
The first edition was held in 2025, with the piece titled «Le basi del futuro» («The foundations of the future»), created on the trees of the area with a colour palette later reused in the following edition.[1]
The second edition, Paraculissima 2026, opened on 30 October 2026. The programme combined the launch of the event with an urban regeneration project in piazza Campidoglio, in front of the City of Turin's Biblioteca Multifunzionale (multi-purpose library), a building erected on the site of the historic Paramatti paint factory. The opening was set for 16:00, with the inaugural moment at 16:30.[1]
The «Inconscio» artwork
The 2026 piece, titled «Inconscio» («Unconscious»), consists of a chromatic mosaic covering about 950 square metres of San Pietrini (the traditional cobblestones of Turin's streets and squares), made up of around 65,000 worked and painted elements. Work on colouring the stones began in mid-October 2026. The piece has been entered for the Guinness World Record as the largest San Pietrini mosaic in the world.[1]
The arrangement of the colours, in shades of light blue, red, green, pink, purple and blue, follows a mathematical algorithm combined with artistic choices, forming a cross-shaped texture on the square's pavement. The ten manholes in the area were worked into the piece's layout: six repeat the mosaic's main shades, one depicts a staircase, one was made by young people from the Il Margine cooperative and another bears the artist's signature. A game called «Scoprite l'Intruso» («Spot the intruder») was also built into the mosaic's sections, inviting passers-by to find the one tile of colour that does not match the prevailing tone of each section.[1]
The 30 October 2026 opening did not include the traditional ribbon-cutting: the mayor of Settimo Torinese, Elena Piastra, instead applied the last splash of colour to a manhole dedicated to the event's guests and visitors.[1]
