Michelin Italia
Michelin Italia is the Italian subsidiary of Michelin, the French multinational specialising in the production of tyres. The group employs a total of 3,800 people in Piedmont, with plants in Turin, Cuneo and Alessandria. The Turin site houses the company's legal office, its European logistics centre and a semi-finished-product manufacturing department [1].
The move of the sales office from Milan
In October 2026 Michelin Italia signed an agreement with the trade unions to close its historic sales office in Milan and move its functions to the Turin site. The decision was confirmed by Agostino Mazzocchi, chairman and chief executive of the multinational's Italian arm, who said the aim was to concentrate company functions alongside the industrial and administrative facilities already present in Turin [1].
The move involves 250 Milan-based employees. Of these, 150 are salespeople who work across the whole country and for whom the change mainly means reporting to Turin rather than Milan for their work. The others will have to choose between commuting to Turin or moving to the city with their families, in order to keep their jobs [1].
Timeline of the agreement
The union agreement officially took effect from 1 January 2027, the date from which Michelin Italia's Turin site also took on the role of sales office. The actual reorganisation of staff will only be completed from the start of 2028, to give employees time to plan the change, with the support of the unions [1].
