On Thursday 1 October 2026 two new SMAT water kiosks are inaugurated in Nichelino, installed in via Garibaldi and piazza Sandro Pertini. The kiosks dispense still water for free, while sparkling water costs 5 cents per 1.5 litres; for the first few days sparkling water is also free.12
The ribbon-cutting is attended by Nichelino mayor Giampiero Tolardo, deputy mayor Carmen Bonino and SMAT Torino Sud e Pinerolese engineer Raffaela Turaglio; the initiative aims to encourage the consumption of public water and reduce the use of plastic bottles.12
