On 14 October 2026 physicist Giorgio Parisi, winner of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics, received an honorary degree in Turin in the Physics of Complex Systems, awarded jointly by the University of Turin and the University of Eastern Piedmont. On that occasion he warned of the risks of artificial intelligence developing without public oversight and of global inequality.
