Guided tour on Giuseppe Arimondi in Savigliano
Date of the event:

Free guided tour organized by the Municipality of Savigliano, in the province of Cuneo, for Sunday 8 November 2026, on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the death of general Giuseppe Arimondi at Adwa. The event is part of the 4 November celebrations and retraces the figure of the Savigliano-born soldier through plaques, monuments and period newspapers of the town [1][2].
The route
The tour devotes a significant part to the Ara della Vittoria, a monument commemorating Arimondi and those who fell in the wars from the Risorgimento to the Second World War. Alongside the monuments, local and national newspapers of the period are presented, useful for framing the meaning of war at that time and the evolution of the concept of peace [1][2].
Organization
The tour is curated with the collaboration of professor Emanuele Bonis, head of the «Savigliano di pietra» project, who explains the monuments and stories linked to the plaques placed in memory of the town's heroes and victims [1][2]. The free event is set for 3pm at the Tourist Office in piazza Santarosa [1][2].
