Giulio Base

Giulio Base is the artistic director of the Torino Film Festival. On the occasion of the Premio Stella della Mole (Star of the Mole award) being given to John Travolta in 2026, he called the American actor "a universal treasury of emotions". ^[1][2] For the third year running he has entrusted the presidency of the Torino Film Festival's juries to three Italian women: for the 2026 edition, running from 24 November to 2 December, he chose Francesca Archibugi for the Feature Film Competition, Stefania Casini for the Documentary Competition and Chiara Francini for the Short Film Competition. Presenting the festival's 44th edition in Rome, dedicated in its poster and retrospective to Marilyn Monroe on the centenary of her birth, Base called it "a strongly female festival", noting that ten of the sixteen competing directors are women. ^{[4] [3]}
