The financial education class in Carrù on 5 November 2026 was a training event held in the Rino Filippi Hall of Carrù Castle, in the province of Cuneo, promoted by BCC Alpi Marittime and the Tertio Millennio Foundation – a philanthropic body of the cooperative credit sector. The initiative, titled "From the Ponzi scheme to cyber-fraud" ("Dallo schema Ponzi alle cyber-truffe"), involved 190 students and teachers from the area's upper secondary schools. [1][2]
The initiative
The event was promoted by BCC Alpi Marittime's Young Members Group and is part of the "Finanza Epica! – Cooperative and mutual financial education" programme, run by the Tertio Millennio Foundation with the aim of introducing younger generations to the themes of the economy, saving and the conscious management of money. [1][2]
The speakers at the event were Marco Reggio, director of the Tertio Millennio Foundation, and Marco Marcocci, a trainer at the same foundation, who explained to the students the main mechanisms of financial fraud, from traditional Ponzi schemes to the more sophisticated digital scams made more dangerous by the misuse of new technologies and artificial intelligence. [1][2]
The speeches
The event was opened by BCC Alpi Marittime's chairman, Domenico Massimino, and general manager, Giuseppe Peirotti, who reaffirmed the bank's commitment to promoting training programmes dedicated to younger generations, with particular attention to financial education. [1][2]
Through concrete examples and situations close to young people's everyday lives, the speakers showed how to recognise the warning signs of a possible scam, develop a critical approach to promises of easy gains, and adopt mindful behaviour to protect one's savings and personal data. [1][2]
