Assault on a disabled student at the Istituto Prever in Pinerolo (October 2026)
On 1 October 2026, in the changing rooms of the Arturo Prever hospitality institute in Pinerolo, a disabled student was assaulted by an underage classmate, who burned his arm with a lighter flame while saying he "hated disabled people". According to reports, before the physical assault someone had filmed a video of the student being mocked, and none of those present intervened; the assault was stopped by a school support worker, alerted by the shouting. The injured student was taken to hospital for the necessary treatment.
The headteacher, Roberta Martino, reported the incident to the Carabinieri and summoned the family of the student responsible, who did not come to school. The institute has opened disciplinary proceedings: the class council will rule on a suspension of more than fifteen days, but the headteacher has stated her intention to propose expulsion from the institute.
