Alberto Leonardis
Alberto Leonardis is chairman and chief executive officer of Gruppo SAE, the publishing company of the Turin-based daily newspaper La Stampa. In September 2026 he presented the La Stampa Usa project, the group's new English-language digital portal, at the OGR in Turin.
The presentation of La Stampa Usa
On 28 September 2026 Leonardis took part in an interview with La Stampa deputy editor Giuseppe Bottero at the OGR in Turin, as part of the presentation of La Stampa Usa, Gruppo SAE's new English-language digital portal aimed at telling the story of Italy to a U.S. audience [1]. In the interview he traced the origins of the project, which grew out of the group's newspapers' experience with Italian communities abroad, with the goal of building a bridge between Italy and the United States capable of connecting Italian businesses, particularly those in the Northwest, with Italian-American entrepreneurs [1].
The La Stampa Usa project
La Stampa Usa will launch on 13 October 2026 with an event at the Waldorf Astoria in New York [2]. The portal will have two newsrooms, one in Turin and one in New York, working in constant contact to tell Americans about Italy and give voice to Italian-American communities, according to Gruppo SAE's editorial director Maurizio Molinari at the OGR presentation [3]. The project relies on Italian and American journalists, native-language editors and a network of contributors in the United States, with the aim of covering culture, current affairs, Made in Italy and business [3].
