2026 robbery at the Grugliasco post office
In October 2026 a 37-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were arrested by Turin's Squadra Mobile (flying squad) after an armed robbery at the via San Rocco post office in Grugliasco. The two were stopped in a car that turned out to be stolen, still in possession of the entire sum taken.
The robbery
According to investigators' reconstruction, the man entered the post office with his face partly disguised by sunglasses and a raised jacket collar. Once inside, he threatened staff with a kitchen knife, ordering them to hand over the cash in the tills [1][2]. Having obtained the money, he walked off to reach a car waiting nearby with its engine running, driven by the woman [1].
The arrest
Squadra Mobile officers, who had been monitoring the man's movements for some time, had followed the entire operation and intervened immediately, stopping the car in piazzale Manfredo Manferdini before the two could get away [1][2]. A subsequent search recovered the entire sum taken, 1,215 euros, hidden in the man's jacket; it was later returned to the post office manager [1].
The seizure and earlier findings
During the operation, officers seized items hidden inside the car: two kitchen knives — including one with an 11-centimetre pointed blade — a multi-purpose bottle opener, a small serrated blade and the sunglasses used during the robbery [1][2]. Checks on the car's plates revealed that the vehicle had been stolen in Turin on 15 September [1][2]. The two arrested were taken to the Lorusso e Cutugno prison [1][2].
