Theft of flower-pot holders at the Albiano d'Ivrea cemetery

At the cemetery of Albiano d'Ivrea, in the Canavese area, the theft of 120 copper flower-pot holders from graves and ossuary niches was discovered on 4 November 2026 [1].

The events

The theft was discovered on the morning of Wednesday 4 November 2026, just days before the commemoration of the dead. The thieves took away 101 flower-pot holders from graves and 19 from ossuary niches [1].

The flower-pot holders on the higher tombs were spared: those responsible for the theft did not use a ladder to reach them [1].

The aftermath

Relatives of the deceased had no choice but to check their loved ones' graves and, where they had been stripped, arrange the flowers as best they could, replacing the stolen pots with plastic containers [1].

The cemetery area is under video surveillance, but the cameras did not prevent the theft [1]. The Carabinieri of the Ivrea company are investigating the incident and will collect reports from relatives of the deceased [1].
