Teun Koopmeiners
Teun Koopmeiners, born in 1998 in Castricum, near Alkmaar, is a Dutch midfielder registered with Juventus.
Career
He came up through the youth ranks at AZ Alkmaar, and in 2021 left the Netherlands to move to Italy, joining Atalanta [1]. From Atalanta he then moved to Juventus, where he currently plays as a midfielder [1][2].
The Koopmeiners family
Teun has a younger brother, Peer, two years his junior, who also came up through AZ Alkmaar's youth academy: while Teun chose the path to Italy, Peer stayed at Alkmaar, making his first-team debut and later becoming its captain [2]. The two brothers, both born in Castricum, co-wrote a children's book together, titled in Dutch "De voetbalbroers, voetballen als een prof" ("The football brothers, playing football like a pro"), produced under the patronage of the municipality of Castricum and dedicated to their path growing up in football [2].
The Europa League match against his brother
On 5 November 2026 Juventus faced AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands in matchday four of the Europa League league phase: for the first time in an official match, Teun and Peer Koopmeiners found themselves on opposing sides, with Teun starting for Juventus and Peer captaining AZ [1][2]. Before that, the two brothers had only ever faced each other in a youth friendly. For the match, the home fans displayed a banner reading "Due fratelli, un amore" ("Two brothers, one love"), accompanied by a picture of the two brothers as children [1]. Before the game, Teun told Sky Sport: "It's been my home for many years, it will be a beautiful evening and above all it will be good to see my brother," adding that his family had asked him for around forty tickets [2]. Peer, for his part, called the match "special," saying he was proud of his older brother [2].
