Team DIANA

Team DIANA is a student team of the Politecnico di Torino active in robotics for planetary exploration, supervised by team advisor Fabrizio Stesina of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (Dimeas), in collaboration with the Politecnico's STAR Lab coordinated by professor Sabrina Corpino [1].

From 4 to 6 September 2026 the team took part in the European Rover Challenge in Kraków, one of the leading international competitions dedicated to robotics for planetary exploration, in which 124 teams took part, 25 of which were admitted to the finals [1][2]. Team DIANA finished in third place, also winning the Best Maintenance award, for the most autonomous robotic arm, and the Best Sampling Task award, for the efficiency of its systems for collecting Martian regolith and rocks [1][2]. Team leader Stefano Giulianelli stated: «We are truly happy and proud to have achieved third place at the European Rover Challenge, together with two special awards. [...] Everyone made a fundamental contribution and this achievement is really the result of everyone's work» [1][2].
