At the 2026 World Skate Games, held on the Cerro Lambaré track in Asunción, Paraguay, 21-year-old Sabrina Vitarelli from Condove wins the silver medal in the women's Inline Downhill Mass Race, becoming vice world champion of the discipline [1][2].
The race
The competition progressed through quarter-finals and a semi-final, both of which the Susa Valley athlete came through. In the final downhill run for the title, Vitarelli finished behind Colombia's Alef Torres, who won the world title, and ahead of Chile's Danae Gomez Huerta, who took bronze [1][2].
Statements
After the competition, Vitarelli described the track as selective and demanding, but spectacular, attributing the result to greater mental maturity and an intense summer of training compared with the World Championships held in Tortoreto, in Abruzzo, in 2024, and dedicated the podium finish to her parents [1]. The national team's technical commissioner, Valentina Liguori, praised the athlete's competitive aggression, calling the second-place finish a deserved achievement [1][2].
The Italian team's overall results
Vitarelli's medal brings the Italian delegation's total podium finishes at the Asunción World Skate Games to two, after Daniele Vecchi's second place in the Time Trial. In the men's Mass Race, notable results include Samuele Paradasi's ninth place, Adrian Gumanita's thirteenth, Vecchi's own seventeenth, Tiziano Ferrari's nineteenth and Angelo Vecchi's thirty-third [2].
