On 15 October 2026 the president of the Piedmont Regional Council Davide Nicco opens a session in Turin devoted to the regional prison system.12 Nicco stresses that protecting the rights of detainees and the safety of prison police staff are two aspects of the same institutional responsibility, in a context marked by overcrowding and staff shortages.12
